V\u00e4lkommen till Keb Classic!<\/h2><\/div>

Keb Classic is an annual alpine race hosted by Kebnekaise Mountain Station that invites both elite alpinists and randonee enthusiasts to our beautiful mountains.

During two competition days, you will experience high alpine mountains with narrow ridges, majestic views and unforgettable ski runs. The day before the Keb Classic, on April 10, a clinic day about snow, avalanche and glacier is organized. You will also receieve useful tips and tricks for the competition.

Keb Classic is also part of the national Swedish Alpinist Championship and every year the champions of the Patrull SM are crowned here. Competition classes<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In Keb Classic you can compete in two different classes \u2013 the alpine class or the touring class. Whether you're an elite ski alpinist, a randonee enthusiast or just want to try something new, there's a winter adventure for you! All skiers are welcome to participate, regardless of whether they travel on skis, telemark or splitboard.

Alpine class<\/h3>

The alpine class offers just over 3,000 meters of altitude per day and stretches over 15 to 30 km. You can compete in 2- or 3-person teams, in either women's, men's or mixed class.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The course<\/h2>

The course for Keb Classic is marked by a number of controls that the participants must pass in the correct order. Along the course there are competition officials who keep track of the participants and stay in contact with the competition secretariat.

The exakt course varies from year to year and is planned by experienced mountain guides a few days before the competition according to the mountain and weather conditions.

For the competitors in the alpine class, the course is about 15-30 km and around 3000 meters of altitude per day. For the touring class, the track is about half of this.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Race rules<\/h2>

Keb Classic is a ski alpine competition in the Swedish wilderness, largely in high alpine terrain. The area itself and the activities during the competition place demands on both the design of the event and the participants. The competition rules are set based on these conditions. KebClassic follows the Patrouille des Glaciers (PDG) regulations regarding equipment.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n

\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t

General rules<\/p><\/div>

\u2013 Participation is at your own risk.
\u2013 The organizer is responsible for ensuring that the competition is safe under the best conditions, such as a fall risk environment and avalanche terrain. Remaining inherent risks, such as downhill skiing on steep off-piste and the like, are up to the participant to adapt to.
\u2013 Paid membership in a climbing club affiliated with the Swedish Climbing Association or equivalent in another country.
\u2013 Competitors are required to stay updated with information about the course and rules from the competition management and officials.
\u2013 Payment is binding according to STF booking terms.
\u2013 The minimum age for participation in the competition is 18 years of age.
\u2013 You as a participant must attend an information meeting the evening before each competition day.
\u2013 The team consists of two or three participants in the women's, men's or mixed team classes.
\u2013 The team is required to stay together throughout the competition from start to finish, with a maximum distance of 15 seconds.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Controls<\/p><\/div>

- During the race the participants have to move between checkpoints along the course that are decided by the race organization.
\n- The checkpoints have to be passed in the right order before a certain time.
\n- The team are obliged to follow the instruction and information the organizations crew gives along the course.
\n- Markings along the course have to be followed, for example downhill.
\n- All the team members have to pass the checkpoints together with maximum 50 meters or 15 seconds between each other. Everyone in the team have to pass the checkpoint.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

To forfeit the competition<\/p><\/div>

- If one member of the team have to forfeit it must be at a manned checkpoint.
\n- This means that if a team of three have to split the other two can continue the race. If it's a team of two the other person have to wait for another team of two to join them and continue the race. This must be done at a manned checkpoint.
\n- If a team don't pass a checkpoint before announced time the person from the organisations crew have the right to stop them from continuing the race.

Finish<\/p><\/div>

- You finish the race when the last member of the team crosses the finish line. With a maximum of 5 seconds between your team members.
\n- A written protest should be given to the race office before 45 minute after the last team have crossed the finish line. This due to a administration fee of 300 sek.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t

Equipment<\/p><\/div>

- The mandatory equipment for the team and the personal equipment have to be carried by the team during the whole race.
\n- The personal equipment have to be carried in each team members own backpack.
\n- If someone miss anything of the mandatory equipment the race organization can disqualify the whole team.
\n- Participants can not use drinks, food or other equipment given to them from non-competing people during the race except for drinks given by the organizations crew. Teams can help other teams.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Safety<\/p><\/div>

– Samtliga t\u00e4vlande \u00e4r skyldiga att hj\u00e4lpa andra t\u00e4vlande eller funktion\u00e4rer vid eventuell olycka ute p\u00e5 fj\u00e4llet.
– Om olycka intr\u00e4ffar ska lagkamraterna p\u00e5b\u00f6rja f\u00f6rsta hj\u00e4lpen och kalla p\u00e5 hj\u00e4lp.
– F\u00f6r att delta i t\u00e4vlingen ska samtliga lagmedlemmar kunna genomf\u00f6ra en kamratr\u00e4ddning vid en lavinolycka, denna kunskap kan du f\u00e5 p\u00e5 torsdagens sn\u00f6\/lavinkurs.
– F\u00f6r att delta i alpinklass ska samtliga lagmedlemmarna beh\u00e4rska ett s\u00e4kert s\u00e4tt att f\u00e4rdas i h\u00f6galpin terr\u00e4ng. Vilket inneb\u00e4r kl\u00e4ttring l\u00e4ngs fasta rep, genomf\u00f6ra firning, f\u00e4rd och r\u00e4ddning p\u00e5 glaci\u00e4r samt skid\u00e5kning i brant terr\u00e4ng i\/under varierande sn\u00f6f\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden.
– N\u00e4r lag f\u00e4rdas inknutet \u00f6ver glaci\u00e4r skall det vara minimum 20m mellan lagmedlemmarna (2-mannalag) 15m (3-mannalag) och knytas in med karbin. \u00d6verblivet rep kan f\u00f6rvaras i ryggs\u00e4ck. Rep skall vid f\u00e4rd h\u00e5llas str\u00e4ckt mellan medlemmarna.
– F\u00f6r att delta i t\u00e4vlingen ska samtliga lagmedlemmarna kunna orientera med hj\u00e4lp av karta och kompass i alla v\u00e4der under vinterf\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden.
-Sn\u00f6f\u00f6rh\u00e5llandena kan variera mycket och sikten kan vara d\u00e5lig. Causes for disqualification<\/p><\/div>

- The team\/team member miss a checkpoint or pass them in the wrong order.
\n- That the team\/team member, upon request, cannot show the mandatory equipment or paid membership in a climbing club connected to the Swedish Climbing Association or the equivalent in another country.
\n- The team don't stick together.
\n- The team\/team member are not following the rules or the instructions given by the race organization before and during the race.
\n- The team\/team member is not showing sportsmanship.
\n- The team\/team member do or show something that the organization couldn't foretell but are judged reckless with consideration to the environment, conditions, safety and sportsmanship due to other competitors.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

The authority of the race organization<\/p><\/div>

\u2013 Rework the course route according to the prevailing conditions on the mountain.
\u2013 Cancel or change the competition due to prevailing snow and weather conditions. The organizer is not liable for refunds.
\u2013 Cancel the competition for teams that do not pass controls within the predetermined time frames.
\u2013 Unanimous decision regarding protests that have been received.
\u2013 Reservation for typos and changes.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Rules Swedish Championship<\/p><\/div>

\u2013 Only teams that participate in the alpine class can participate in the Swedish Championships.
\u2013 To participate in the Swedish Championships, you must be a Swedish citizen and a member of a club affiliated with the Swedish Climbing Association.
\u2013 To conduct the Swedish Championships in patrol, the team may not change between the start on day 1 and the finish on day 2. This means that if someone in the team breaks or if the team takes on a new team member, they will continue outside the Swedish Championships.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Equipment<\/h2>

The equipment will be checked the night before the start and after the finish line for both race days, if the equipment cannot be presented the team may be disqualified. The competition management has the right to reject equipment they find defective or not suitable for the competition.

Personal equipment - touring class<\/p><\/div>

- Back pack with room for all your equipment.
\n- Avalanche rescue shovel according to UIAA 156 or ISMF standard, plastic blade not allowed.
\n- Probe, minimum length 240 cm and minimum 10 mm in diameter.
\n- Your transceiver must be in send mode and close to your body. Minimum battery level at start\u00a080% .
\n- Headlamp with fresh batteries.
\n- Goggles, sunglasses\u00a0or Visor.
\n- Helmet, the helmet in the alpine class must be approved for both climbing and skiing.\nUIAA 106 and EN 1077 or EN 12492 EN 1077.
\n- In the touring class, the helmet must be approved for skiing, or it must be double certified.
\n- Skis, minimum 90% of the length must have steel edge. The skis have to be a least 160 cm for men and 150 cm for ladies.
\n- The boots have to be over the ankles and have a rubber sole. It must be possible to attach crampons correctly. Telemark, alpine, randonn\u00e9\u00a0boot\u00a0and\u00a0snowboard boots that fulfill the requirements are allowed.
\n- Poles
\n- Skins. Recommend 2 pair if you use skimo skis.
\n- Climbing harness and a CE-certified repelling device. Competitors in Ski Touring can borrow this equipment.
\n- First Aid kit and tourniquet
\n- Whistle
\n- Food to manage the day.
\n- 2 pair of gloves, at least one pair that's warmer.
\n- A hat
\n- Windproof jacket and trousers to put over the race suit if it's not wind or waterproof.
\n- Insulated jacket down vest\/down jacket\/fleece minimum 300g.


\n\nMight be needed depending on the race track:\n- Crampons with with 10 spikes or more, 2 of them in the front, not modified. The crampons\u00a0must have straps to attach around the wrist. When not used, store in the backpack. (Can be rented from the station.)
